Licenses

The Village Code requires individuals and companies to display a valid license for a variety of activities.

Permits

Before you begin a construction project, call the Community Development Department at 847-923-4420 to determine if you need a permit. Visit our Licenses and Permits page for more information. Here are just a few of the things that require a permit or license.

Public Utilities

Water and Sewer- Contact the Water Billing Division at 847-923-4520 to set up your water account or with water bill questions. Contact Public Works at 311 with any questions regarding water quality or service problems. 

Phone, Cable, and Internet- Schaumburg is proud to offer a choice of three primary communications companies for phone, cable, and internet. These are AT&T (1-800-244-4444), Comcast (1-866-594-1234), and Wide Open West (1-866-496-9669).

The village offers a variety of Transportation options to help you get around Schaumburg and the greater Chicagoland region.

Local Taxes and Assessments

Taxes and fees are the primary way the village pays for the various services that it provides to its residents and businesses.  Businesses often have questions about the taxes below, but a full list of Taxes and Fees is on the village's website.

  • Property Tax- If you have any questions about your property tax bill or assessment, contact Schaumburg Township at 847-884-0030.
  • Sales Tax- Administered on the purchase of goods and merchandise and remitted directly to the State of Illinois.
  • Food and Beverage Tax- Administered on the purchase of prepared food and drinks and remitted directly to the village.

Recycling Requirements

All businesses are required to implement a recycling program of at least one or more of their waste product materials such as paper, glass, plastic, metal and organics. All garbage, recycling storage areas, and grease storage containers must be screened by an enclosure. Maintenance of the enclosure is the responsibility of the property owner, and a permit is required to construct the enclosure.

Small Business Development Center- Illinois SBDC at Harper College helps businesses start, grow and expand.

Schaumburg Business Association (SBA)- The SBA aims to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of the Schaumburg Area. The local chamber of commerce connects its members to each other and to the community and serve as the primary advocate for businesses in the region.
