90 North District

The 90 North District is located in the north part of Schaumburg and bounded by I-90, Roselle Road, Algonquin Road, and Arbor Drive. Regional and global anchors have already created a strong economic core at I-90 and Meacham Road at the heart of the 90 North District. Major anchors include the Zurich North America Headquarters, the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, and Motorola Solutions. Together, these anchors host 5,000 employees in the area every day as well as over 250,000 visitors annually just at the Convention Center.


Veridian

90 North is the home to Veridian, which is a new 225 acre mixed-use campus that will feature high-end residential developments, and Class A office space, numerous entertainment and hospitality options, and street retail districts. Unique in its vision, Veridian seeks to capture a wide variety of people who are looking for a sophisticated urban experience close to home. Proposed Entertainment District

There is a need for more restaurants, entertainment venues, programmed public plazas and trails that visitors and employees in the area can easily walk to. This Framework Plan creates a new system of roadways, open spaces, trails and parcels to address this need and allows the redevelopment to occur in viable phases. The plan reinforces the vibrant mixed-use core across Meacham Road and complements the approved plans for 90 North District West. Current Projects

Since the framework plans have been put in place for the Veridian development, there has been a tremendous amount of activity on the site. The following projects will soon be joining Motorola and Zurich North America on the Veridian campus, with many more on the way:

Top Golf
Topgolf is a premier entertainment and event venue with point-scoring golf games for all skill levels which also includes an upscale bar and restaurant, competitive leagues, and golf lessons for beginners. Top Golf broke ground in November 2018 on the southwest side of Veridian and is estimated to be open in Fall 2019.

Element at Veridian Apartments
The first residential development was recently approved for Element at Veridian, which will be a 260-unit high end apartment building.  The project will feature 201 studio and one-bedroom units, 51 two-bedroom units and 8 three-bedroom units. The development will occur on the west end of the Veridian campus with construction estimated to begin later this year.

 

Harbor Chase
A 110-unit assisted living and memory care facility was approved in January 2019. The new four-story facility will feature 78 assisted living and 32 memory care units as well as a spa & fitness center, resident lounge, dining hall, craft center, and classroom. The development will occur on the northwest end of the Veridian campus with construction anticipated to begin later this year.

Progress Parkway
Progress Parkway is the newly constructed roadway connecting Algonquin Road to Meacham Road on the Veridian campus. The roadway was officially opened to traffic at the conclusion of Stage 1 of the project in December 2018. Stage 2 will resume in Spring 2019 when the southbound lanes between Zurich and Motorola will be completed. Other Stage 2 elements include a sidewalk and bike path, landscaped medians, street lighting, and the completion of the intersection improvements at Algonquin Road.
